NOTE: THIS GUIDE IS OUTDATED. The steps apply IF you have an updated ijl15.dll, if you so wish you can just skip those steps as datapacker is an injector for the client. The instructions provide you with both and you can do one without the other. It’s just that the ijl15.dll is outdated. You’ve been warned.
Step by step guide to modifying your Mabinogi NA client!
In this guide, we will be installing my personal font.
Mission Start!
First download these files:
*ijl15 (OUTDATED, Look for an updated version.)
*DataPacker
Font Change 2.01
*See notes
Once completed, go ahead and navigate to your Mabinogi Folder. In my case it is C:\Nexon\Mabinogi1
Extract the archives into this folder so that ijl15 and the data folder is in the root folder (the folder holding Mabinogi.exe).
Start up Datapacker.exe.
Select the first button (scan), and select the second button (patch). (Results can vary.)
Press okay and you’re set!
Mission complete! \o/
If you want to uninstall the font/revert the data folder to yield changes, press the third button in Datapacker. If you want to uninstall ijl15, execute UninstallPatch.cmd.
There are many more things now that you have access to with a modified client such as using your own pmgs, setting up Paladin cutscene cancellation, etc, etc.

Note that this is my way I modify my client. Not everyone does it this way nor do they use the exact same tools that I use.
*Seems a couple of people have commented that you do not need datapacker.exe.
This is true. For now. Once ijl15 is outdated, your mods will drop but this is a permanent solution the package folder. This is how it works: Datapacker calls up the data folder in the Mabinogi root. It finds whatever modifications in said folder and patches the package files in the package folder. In this way, you do not need the (new) ijl15. I hope that clears things up. Besides, even if it were a keylogger, I don’t even play Mabinogi anymore. kthx

Yeah you don’t need Datapacker.exe. Not sure what it’s for.. but for this text mod all you need is ILJ15. I wouldn’t run the datapacker.. in worst case scenario it may be keylogger

Look. You do not need datapacker.exe, BUT once the next patch comes rolling along, ijl15.dll gets outdated, meaning the data folder will not work.
The data patcher itself is an injector. It modifies the package files with whatever you inject which happens to use the file tree starting from data>etcetc.

It will not let me go into the DataPacker though, it comes up Japanease Letters and then shows an OK button, within 10 seconds it dissapears though, what should l do?

I can’t help you very well without actually seeing the error. I’m not sure what the problem is but I suggest you lookup another method for modding such as using IJL15’s native data folder sensory.

Could someone please put a video on youtube exactly how to do this? Please start from the very beginning, make it detailed and call it……. Umm… Mabinogi iij15 modding. Thanks.
